Over the past few years, my brand has grown into a brand built on sustainability and ethical principles. Its not perfect, but I'm committed to doing everything I can for the wellbeing of both people and planet.
When shipping your order, recycled packaging is used as often as I can. This may mean your packaging will look a little wonky, but its giving those materials a second life.
As much as possible, I choose natural fibres like cotton and linen. When polyester or synthetic material is used, it always comes from a second-life source like thrifted fabric/zippers/notions, deadstock material, fabric made from recycled bottles or similar, rather than being made from scratch. I always check thrifted materials for quality.
I'm just one small business but I care deeply about how what I do affects south africa and the people who call it home.
Many pieces start with fabric that already existed, whether thrifted textiles, deadstock rolls, offcuts that would've ended up in landfill. If its already out there taking up space or headed for the bin, it hates to see me coming. That means much of what I make is once-off, never to be seen again. When a fabric's gone, it's gone, I can't reorder more. So if you see something you like, that particular piece won't come back in that exact fabric again.
A handful of pieces are the exception, like custom bouldering/hiking pants orders and a few core styles that stay on the site permanently.
Outsourcing Policy: Whenever outsourcing of work is needed, I outsource to teams or individuals who pride themselves on ethical treatment and pay that is well above minimum wage. No sweatshop involvement whatsoever!!
AI Policy: F*ck gen AI.
Everything is handmade here in Cape Town, South Africa.
